I don't know how you measured your gpu temp, but in the review i used a pretty accurate temp probe glued to the edge of the core. I don't think off-die sensors get any more accurate than that.

Also, the 9600XT is made on .13u process, instead of .15u, which makes it produce much less heat.

doesn't the 9600XT has an internal temp diode readout?

or does the 9800XT only have that?

with standard cooling the 9800XT showed ~80°C under load..

The 9600XT does have an internal temp diode. I am getting the temp through the overdrive tab in advanced settings. And maybe it is the smaller process that makes it so much cooler.

Very helpful articles. Was in the process of purchasing a 9800 XT and bought the Arctic Cooler VGA from newegg. Dumb question (I guess)- is it very complicated to install the Arctic Cooler onto the card prior to installation of the card ? I am by no means a hardware expert. Is there a guide for doing this ?

It's easier to install than the Zalman 80A/C-HP, but you still have to be carefull.

my vote goes to vga silencer
it go me 25Mhz higher (360) (> still going higher ... 370 reached not a great OC'er my card) on my r9700 pro than the other (copper stock hercules) cooler
and all of this for €18

Does anybody know where I can find the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer in the region of Leuven?

I can only find a shop in Merchtem and they charge 18€ for the delivery of a 20€ part

Does the Thermaltake Gaint II fit on an XFX geforce FX5600 on an ABIT IC-7 Motherboard? I really need help since i want to change my stock fan (it is mulfunctioning) and i am worried of lack of good cooling ....
