Will the card be wasted than? Or can it still be saved? (read in the article that when you have a problem with that checkersboard thingie you just have to install the new drivers)

btw. nice article
Nope, you won't fisicaly harm the card: just reïnstall regular drivers and the card will work fine as a 9500.

@fubar: it's clearly mentioned in the "benchmark" section. XP2400+ (166FSB) & epox nforce² & dual channel ddr

Default Connect3D Ati Radeon 9500

Hi

My new mainboard only supports 4x - 8x agp cards due to a voltage difference. So now I'm looking for a new videocard. I was thinking about the Ati Radeon 9500 made by Connect3D (not the pro version). But since I'm quite the noob on this and don't want to spend money on something that isn't good I first would like to ask you guys a few questions and opinions...

Ok there goes
1. In a review on this site they say a 9500 card can be softmodded to a 9700 card, by enabling pipelines that are originally disabled. Is this still possible, because ATI did have some time now to just remove the disabled pipelines. And is there a way to count the pipelines, can you see them on the card?? If so what do they look like??

2. Is the 9500 (non pro) better than the 9000 pro?

3. Is the tv-out capable of dual display?? Watching TV computer screen and monitor computerscreen at the same time...

4. Is it any good??

5. What is the voltage?? Since according to my mainboard manual I shouldnt use agp cards with a voltage higher then 1.5v or it will blow up/burn some circuits...

Thank you in advance,

Oh btw what is special about..
For
Geheugenlayout 2x naast GPU en 2x Boven GPU!
In english
Memorylayout 2x next to GPU 2x above GPU

1. Yes. Connect3D 9500 cards have 9700 pcb design and are still capable to be modded to a 9700.
2. yes
3. didn't test it, but I'm sure it is.
4. yes, check the update article. The TV-out isn't perfect, but it's good.
5. it will work

9700 (/9500) pcb desing: 2 chips above / next GPU
9500 Pro pcb desing: 4 chips above GPU
