A film is indeed not so good, but a protective film is in most cases better then corrosion. Thats also the reason why the reviewed product leaves such a protective film.

The name of the product is: "HG koperglans polish" from hagesan.

It's a white bottle with a blue label and white text. The label also has some pictures of copper furniture.

Edit: no it's another product to remove stickers, but it smells like white spirit.

Their is a big difference between alcohol, ... and those polishes.

Alcohol and so is good for removing the grease from fingers,... and the 'large' dirt on the surface it cleans, but polishes have certain ingredients in it that also clean the very little bits of dirt.

If you cleaned a heatsink with alcohol and afterwards you rub it with polishcotton (in dutch: watten zonder toegevoegd product of zo) you'll see that the cotton turned completely green.
That green is coppercorrosion, but can't be removed by alcohol, aftershave, ...

If you've used a polish you'll see that the polishfluid turns green upon rubbing. That is the corrosion that comes off the heatsink.
The trick is to keep on cleaning, re-applying cleanerpolish and rubbing until the fluid no longer changes colour.
Normally (if you've done it right) when you rub it with polishcotton you'll find that there comes hardly any green off the heatsink anymore.
In other words, the corrosion is gone and the surface can absorbe the heat from the cpu much much more easier.

If you really want to go to the extreme in optimal surface then you must afterwards apply alcohol (just plain alcohol, no aftershave that leaves residu) to remove the protective film left by the polish. And after that clean the heatsink for at least 5 min with polishcotton so that the sink is totally clean. Then you will have the most optimal contact.
When you do this on a lapped heatsink (grain 1600 or 2000 or even more) then you will have best results reachable with that particular type of heatsink.

There is a downside on removing the protective polish.
That is that the copper almost immediatly begins to corrode.
So when you use that technique, apply the heatsink as soon as possible (clean and directly mount, do not wait 5 min or more) or you where better of with the film
