| A floppy disk is not always necessary to flash your bios, asus has an application that can flash the bios from windows.. You can even downgrade the bios to a lower version if necessary.. Pretty good idea that is.. You can d'load it from the asus site.. I don't know if it can be used for all the mobo's. I used it for my P4C800-E Deluxe. If that is not an option, you can open the pc and attach the floppy when needed .. my case doesn't have appropriate space for a floppy.. Then when finished flashing remove the floppy again.. I don't know if there are some applications non-Asus that can also do the trick, maybe it's interesting to know.. Cheers |

I strongly advised against flashing your BIOS through Windows, too many subprocesses running which can ruin the flash and screw up your BIOS & mobo :/ @undstacc: your system (a64 3000+) seems sufficiently fast, why do you want to spend money? for gaming, all it take is a vga card upgrade

| hey jmke, thank you for the above tip, I was under the impression that it couldn't harm. Nowadays pc's do not come standard with floppy's, so that could give a problem. Personally I used the Asus application a couple of times, I found it very usefull since the bios I was using caused me a lot of problems, and I could easly downgrade the bios until I had a stable/error free pc. I also didn't had a floppy. I have a floppy that I use only for bios upgrades, I will follow your advise for all future bios upgrades.. Thanks again.. Cheers |
