are you sure your CPU multi is not locked?

Even a stock cooler would do some Ocing. My 2L is used on 1700+XP at 2.1 Ghz; 1.775 Vcore, 2.8 V mem.

Leave the multi at 12.5; raise the FSB to 170 and see what the speed shows.

that's what I wanna see too, and if it then reverts to 166*12.5 automatically, that's weird stuff

i imagine he has a pre-0350 barton if he can change it to detect the cpu as a 2500

unless its like a64 chips where you can only change it down

try moving the multi up that would be an easy oc

check and see what kind of coolers will work on your mobo

i'm pretty sure thermalright has some other conventional offerings as well that could work

thermaltake polo735 is pretty good, too, check articles section and you can read my review of it, and that one has guaranteed compatability since it uses the old school clip mount

Guys,

i think i've figured it out. i've downloaded the Nvidia system utility, to oc directly from Windows. And finally i can see the speed tuning up as i turn up the fsb. A pity it is locked to the memory. They go simultaniously! I could reach 170 !WOW :grum: But even then, with Prime95 it doesn't run stable. It gives me a Hardware failure.
So pls give me a final conclusion !
Is it the cpu (bad stepping), is the cooling, or both???

thx for the help,

Greetz,
