| Sup guyz. I been readin this forum lately and I been doin a lot of researchin around well anywayz thanks for posting the 5900->5950u info jmke, I told my friend about it and he is enjoying his *5950 Ultra* . Here are some info. that you 5900 Se/Xt owners might want to know... I recently tried to flash my eVGA Geforce FX 5900 SE/XT to a 5950 Ultra using WFFLASH & The Leadtek 5950u BIOS that jmke posted. After a quick reboot my comp was able to detect my card as a *Leadtek 5950 Ultra* but unfortunatly I was not able to change the resolution or color or anything like that. If I tried to, the monitor will lose signal, and the only option left was to reboot the cpu . The dumb part was that I didn't know how to use the flash program so I didn't back up my original BIOS ...Anyways, I thought my card was dead forever, until I re-flashed my video card to a BFG 5950 Ultra which I got from here . I was able to play games but there was a lot of artifacting, so I had to underclock it to 450/850.(5900 SE/XT uses 2.8ns memory, so its supposed to be unstable @ 950 memory clock). I was still pretty impressed though, before the flash my memory clock was only stable at 780. What I also noticed is the decrease in temp :wtf: The bad part was the performance...my 3dmark03 scores were lower and the Halo Timedemo Benchmark score has also decreased. Not only that but my AGP Rate was locked at 4x!? when I was able to play games at 8x before the flash. At first, I thought it was because of the BIOS but it was set to Agp 8x and there was nothing wrong with it. I tried re-installing drivers, changing my BIOS to Gainwards, Gigabytes and I also tried the newer BFG 5950u BIOS (Which I got from Mavke ) but NOTHING seemed to fix the problems at all. Since I was pretty desperate, I contacted eVGA for a 5900 SE Bios(Original) and they sent it to me so I re-flashed it. My AGP Rate was back to normal(8x) and my benchmark scores were back to normal . So for all of you eVGA 5900 SE/XT owners, do NOT flash your vga card because it is just a waste of time and it will give you a performance decrease instead of an increase however if you want to prove me wrong and try it for yourself, then good luck. I'll add this info just in case. Flashes that were compatible BFG Gainward Gigabyte Flashes that were NOT compatible Leadtek Only |

lol..yeah i know i think i am pretty lucky that I got the 5900SE bios from evga. I thought they were gonna say no or sumthin and if they did I wouldn't know what to do... I added some 5950u BIOS Roms for all of you by the way, you're gonna have to unzip them first. Enjoy! eVGA 5900 Se/Xt Bios BFG 5950u Bios 1 BFG 5950u Bios 2(From Mavke) Gainward 5950u 300 Bios Gainward 5950u 400 Bios Gigabyte 5900 Se/Xt Bios Gigabyte 5950u Bios

The guys, who gave me the bios, said "just put the things you need on floppy, restart and it's flashed", and you say that I have to type something... Since the flash worked with you, it has to work with mine to, what do I have to type, if necessary. Or what the procedure to flash is, because you're breaking my balls

Basically the procedures are pretty easy but people who have never done this stuff before might have some problems. Just read the first msg that jmke posted.
