| thx for the help but i am sure my board is killing me :|. voltage fluctuates 0.1V between idle-load and my max stable fsb dropped to 225mhz. So my current board is absolut shite compared to my previous abit (245mhz and good stable vcore where i could relay on) :|. Hard overclocking like this but i am sure my cpu can do much more, need to find a descent board. Anyone sells a good board ?

| I haven't been followed nf7-s for a while but last I used were some Merlin biosses, good for oc'ing but nothing more and TicTac's d26 mantarays xt or something wich was much more stable then any of the merlin biosses I tried but also a tad slower. overall, best bios of all the ones I checked out though... maybe this can help you with the drooping... |

| Switching PSU may help; in my case a high vcore drop with one PSU might be different when another PSU is used. Not in one instance but over half a dozen cases ..... it may have to do with ripple effect or how "clean" the current is. Also, I upped the 5 volt to 5.4 and 12 volt to 12.4. It helps flattening the vcore from moving too much. Does your PSU have trim pots?

| no they don't have trim pots. But I used this psu also with my amd xp 2500+ M and when i benched with 2.1Vcore It did drop to 2.095Vcore so in my case it isn't a psu problem, more like a mobo prob. all my voltlines are stable in idle and load. 5=5.13V 12v = 11.98 - 12.1V

| Flashed a new bios and did a sisoftbench. 240*11 its certainly a vcore problem since the temps were 36°C. I could mod it but that killed my prvious board when i checked my voltage with a mulitmeter. And since this is just a regular backup board from my dad I don't wanna **** it up for benching.

| Higher than specs Mobo MOSFET + low specs PSU = Okay At specs Mobo MOSFET + high specs PSU = Okay Low specs Mobo MOSFET + high specs PSU = Okay Low specs Mobo MOSFET + at specs PSU = NOT Okay High spec Mobo + high spec PSU + high spec memory + high specs CPU + high specs Vcard + high specs NB/SB = God Bless you It is the world of "combinations"; the system is as good as the weakest link. A good "boss" likely will tie "things" together and makes it look easy. The boss is the CPU. Like I said before my P4 2A only needs 1.675 vcore to run at 3.4Ghz. It does not even dissipate much heat despite the clock speed. You might have a higher spec mobo before. Regardless, the higher the voltage than what is spec'ed the lower the life expectancy; this rule applies to all electronics and electrical components. Hence, I don't care whether the system is air-cool, water-cool or vapor chilled, unless voltage input is within +/-10% of spec, the system will not last for long. Otherwise, we are all "scientist". We are tweakers who want to exploit a bit more than what we paid for at the mercy of current technolgy could bring us compounded by manufacturing cost/profit and other limitations. The guy "windwithme" is sorting CPU for hobby which is not bad because if you could RMA those non-performers, it saves on fancy cooling and headache associated with.
