The 4 rubber thingies on the cpu are they for supporting the core when the cooling block is attached or what's the use of it?!

yes, that is correct, to prevent the heatsink from tipping over and braking the core. those pads have been present on the socket A coolers since the introduction of the Athlon Tbird 800Mhz

fan turned to max setting (4500rpm)

2400Mhz - 1.8v - 47°C and rising..

reply to Bonbon: nope, window stays closed, room temp is 24°C, nice and warm

2500 - 1.8v .. block

upping vcore to 1.93v


@Piotke: quickly finding limit with Prime95 and high vcore, working in downward spiral afterwards till I hit stable 3dmark.. gf1 should suffice

2600 - 1.93v - fail

fail also.. soft spot at current temp ~50°C seems to be between 2500-2600.. not too shabby
