Default AC Ryan SATA+ATA PCI Combo Card ACR-SA5514

Want to connect some of those new SATA drives but your motherboard doesn't support it? We took a look at ACRyan's PCI SATA Controller card

We test a PCI SATA controller from ACRyan. Allowing you to connect 2 SATA hard drives to any system that has a free PCI slot. Does it perform better or worse then an onboard solution? We installed it and let you know

not yet in .BE, but in .NL it should be available, www.nygl.com is the distributor for NL.

@Piotke: I think it supports >200gb HD's without glitch, the 3112 chipset has no problem addressen the +137gb HD's so those 70+gb extra won't matter

32bit, 33 / 66 MHz fully compliant PCI host interface
this means you don't have to worry about getting corrupted data if you don't have a PCI/AGP lock and you're OC'ing beyond 33mhz right?

I've read something about PCI raid controller cards where you could insert memory, would this make a substantial difference compared to one without extra memory?

Did you compare the raid card to an onboard raid controller?
