Default Woz endorses right to repair

Apple would not have existed without right to repair

The early engineering brains behind Apple, Steve Wozniak, appears to have stood against the company by endorsing the right-to-repair movement.

For those who came in late, Apple has done its best to derail the movement, it makes a fortune forcing people to use its repair services and its products are really hard to repair.

Woz points that that Apple would not have existed if he had not grown up in a very open technology world.

"It's time to recognise the right to repair more fully. Companies inhibit [the right to repair] because it gives the companies power, control, over everything. It's time to start doing the right things."

This past March, Intel gave us some insight into its upcoming 12th generation Alder Lake and 13th generation Raptor Lake processor platforms. Technical documents on Intel's website provided an "overview of high-level compatibility guidance between Alder Lake S and Raptor Lake S" for its customers.

This weekend, further documentation was discovered, which details Intel's "Alder-Raptor Lake PCH-S SATA Controller". Given the naming, there's no question that Alder Lake and Raptor Lake feature a related CPU architecture that will share supporting chipsets. The documentation was submitted to the SATA-IO, which is responsible for the SATA specification that hardware vendors adopt on motherboards and complementing accessories.
