Default Windows XP SP2 and Prescott CPU Compatibility Issues?

Several technicians that I work with have began reporting issues with Windows XP builds after installing SP2. While using Prescott core CPUs, as soon as they install SP2 and reboot, the system hangs at the Windows splash screen. Changing the CPU to a non-Prescott version corrects the problem. Doing a Google on Prescott and SP2 reveals that we are not the only ones having the issue, it is not specific to motherboard vendor as problems are being reported across many different manufacturers products.
