The Control Panel has undergone numerous transformations over its 39-year lifespan and has been a familiar tool for Windows users across generations. The Settings app, introduced with Windows 8 in 2012, has gradually absorbed the functionalities of the Control Panel. Despite rumors of its demise circulating for a while, this is the first time Microsoft has officially acknowledged the Control Panel's deprecation.
