Default UPS Saves 10 Million Gallons of Fuel by Only Turning Right

In the case of UPS saving over 10 million gallons of fuel, the company does it by doing the right thing. The right thing in UPS' case is avoiding making left turns in delivering packages. The algorithms that UPS uses to map out routes is much more refined now than it was in the early days. And yes, sometimes UPS drivers do turn left. It usually only happens in residential neighborhoods where there's very little traffic.
