| Toshiba CEO suddenly falls on sword Sudden departure after restructuring plans Toshiba CEO Satoshi Tsunakawa announced a surprise resignation after revised restructuring plans sparked opposition within the company and anger from shareholders. New interim CEO Taro Shimada said the company would continue its break-up plan as it had been approved by the board. The scandal-ridden conglomerate decided to split into three in a move which was panned by foreign hedge fund shareholders who preferred Tosh was flogged to a finance firm.
