| Taiwanese companies not getting USB 3.0 products certified Although more than 10 Taiwan-based IC design houses, including Genesys Logic, JMicron Technology, ASMedia Technology, VIA Labs, Prolific Technology, Alcor Micro, Etron Technology and Faraday Technology, have entered the production of USB 3.0 solutions, shipments of related products from those companies will be relatively limited in 2010, according to industry sources. Since none of Taiwan's IC design houses has secured USB-IF certification for its USB 3.0 chips, it is difficult for those makers to push sales of their USB 3.0 products to notebook or motherboard makers, the sources noted. The end-market device makers are also reluctant to adopt USB 3.0 solutions at present as they are waiting for Intel to launch related chipsets supporting SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standards, according to sources at Renesas Electronics, which has obtained USB-IF certification for its USB 3.0 products. http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20100802PD206.html
