Taipei, Taiwan—April 10, 2012—Synology® Inc. today launched RackStation RS2212+ and RS2212RP+, the reliable 10-bay rack mount NAS servers designed with seamless scalability for small and medium businesses.

“Synology RS2212+ and RS2212RP+, the newest addition to the Plus Series line-up, are a highly dependable and scalable solution for small and medium business owners. It delivers high system availability and storage capacity for mission-critical workloads, enabling clients to run business-critical applications with continual service uptime,” said Peter Chen, Product Manager of Synology Inc.

The RackStation RS2212+/RS2212RP+ is powered by a 2.13 GHz dual-core processor, boasting high performance with read and write speeds at 200.73 MB/sec and 194.32 MB/sec respectively under RAID 5 configuration with Link Aggregation enabled. While running at this high performance, both NAS servers feature enhanced energy consumption with 31% reduction over its predecessor at 88 watts when operating under load. Designed with ideal expansion capability for SMB user, both models offer a total 22-bay storage solution that pair up with Synology expansion units RX1211(RP) and an upgradable system RAM from 1 GB to 3 GB to satisfy the demanding need of a growing business.

To eliminate single point of failure and ensure continuous system uptime during malfunction, both RS2212+ and RS2212RP+ delivers comprehensive set of highly reliable mechanisms that includes passive CPU cooling technology, system fan redundancy, hot-swappable drives, and dual LAN failover support. RS2212RP+ comes with redundant power supplies to further guarantee system reliability during unforeseen power breakdown.

Synology RS2212+/RS2212RP+ features iSCSI support with a seamless storage solution for major virtualization servers, including VMware® vSphere™, Citrix® XenServer™ and Microsoft® Hyper-V™. Furthermore, it offers flawless integration into ADS and LDAP environments and Windows® ACL support for easy account and privilege management.

Synology RS2212+ and RS2212RP+ run on DiskStation Manager 4.0 (DSM 4.0), the operating system of every Synology DiskStation and RackStation. DSM 4.0 provides rich features to boost users’ productivity and simplify their tasks, all on a sleek user interface optimized for multitasking. The predecessor of the RS2212+ and RS2212RP+, RackStation RS2211+, has received numerous media recognitions worldwide, including the “Must Have” award from KitGuru, United Kingdom.
