| Sony’s new Xperia delayed because of Samsung Can’t show it off at MWC As we thought, Sony will not be announcing its flagship Xperia smartphone at MWC this month because Samsung appears to be hoarding the chips. Sony was expected to launch five smartphones at the Barcelona tech show, including a flagship follow-up to the Xperia Z5 Premium. Codenamed "Yoshino", Sony's next top-end smartphone with a 5.5in 4840x2160 4K display, 4GB or 6GB RAM, a Sony IMX 400 camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It is the processor which is causing the problems. Qualcomm’s super-cool 10nm Snapdragon 835 processor was pre-sold Samsung for its Galaxy S8 smartphone. Samsung does not want to show off its new phone at MWC until March and in the meantime, it is sitting on most of the chips. http://fudzilla.com/news/42781-sony-...use-of-samsung |
