Default Snapdragon 730 and 710 details leaked

8nm and 10nm 2+6 cores

Qualcomm is expected to launch its 700 series rather soon and the latest leaks describe two rather robust products coming soon. The Snapdragon 700 series was launched by Cristiano Amon, the company’s president at the Mobile World Congress 2018 without going into any details.

The Snapdragon 730 is Qualcomm’s first 8 nm LPP SoC with two Kryo 4xx clocked at 2.3GHz, 256 KB L2 cache and six smaller Kryo 4xx clocked at 1.8 GHz, 128KB L2 cache sharing 1MB L3. This is the first time we saw a reference to the Kryo 4xx and bear in mind that the latest greatest Snapdragon 845 has the Kryo 385 Gold based on Cortex A75 and Kryo 385 silver based on Cortex A55. This looks like the first 8nm product from the house of Qualcomm while we still are under the impression that next year's Snapdragon 855 is a 7nm part.

Snapdragon 730 looks like a next gen
Snapdragon 730 needs to be slower than 845 to makes any sense and this is why the clock is dramatically slower, and the number of big cores is reduced to two. The SoC supports 1866MHz LPDDR4X and it is a positive surprise to see the Adreno 615 inside clocked up to 750 MHz. The leaked spec claims that this should be enough for 60+ FPS in QHD user interface.

There is support for 3040x1440 resolution in 10 bit and 4K 50 10-bit DP, QSSED3L, HDR10 DPU855. On the wireless side, the Snapdragon 730 supports 2x2 802.11 ac wireless in dual band and Bluetooth 5.1. It uses SDR 660 RF but there is no mention on what kind of modem and the modem speed you can expect.

When it comes to the camera, the new 730 SoC supports Spectra 350 with cameras up to 32 megapixel as well as 3X concurrent camera, FS2 sensor support. Video support maxes out with 4K60 HEVC, 4K30 10 bit and H.264/VP8. We noticed that H.265 is missing from this spec.

The storage supports the latest and greatest UFS 2.1 gear 3 one lane and SD3.0 EMMC. It uses USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C and USB 2.0 and it has the NPU 120 + GPU / HVX for AI capabilities and machine learning.
