| Shuttle unveils robust Mini PC with Intel vPro support - System management and remote control independent of the operating system - Space for two drives and 32 GB DDR3L memory Elmshorn, Germany, 2016-10-25 - For the first time, a Mini PC in Shuttle's range offers hardware mechanisms for system management and enhanced security functions. Thanks to the Intel vPro technology [1] in the Intel Q170 chipset, the DQ170 can be managed remotely via one of its two network interfaces, even when it is switched off. vPro includes capabilities independent of the operating system, such as inventory creation, remote control, diagnostics and client repair, without the need to be on site. Now, for instance, administrators can access the DQ170, boot up the device, enter BIOS settings and load operating system images, even when it is switched off. Access to the hardware is still possible, e.g. to trigger a reset, even when the operating system is no longer reacting. All this and so much more can be controlled using commercial and free vPro/AMT software or even a web browser. "It is not just the personnel responsible for IT networks in small and large companies that will benefit from these special functions. The management of individual clients at remote locations, which are difficult to access, is also possible with ease," explains Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "Additional security requirements are provided by TPM 2.0 on the DQ170." The DQ170 relies on the latest Intel processor microarchitecture and thus supports Celeron, Pentium and Core processors for socket LGA 1151 up to 65 Watt. The two SO-DIMM slots are suitable for DDR3L RAM up to a total of 32 GB. Two M.2 slots provide expansion options, e.g. for PCIe SSDs (NVMe) and WLAN modules. The 43 mm flat steel chassis is effectively and silently cooled by a dual-fan heatpipe, provides space for one 2.5" drive and can be mounted horizontally or vertically suspended with a VESA mount. Approval for ambient temperatures of between 0-50°C and its robust build quality guarantee reliable operation even in harsh environments. A short product video shows 360 views of the machine and highlights important details: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m7SuJX8QVs The recommended retail price from Shuttle for the DQ170 is EUR 255.00 (ex VAT). At the time of publication of this press release, this model is available from specialist retailers across Europe. [1] A suitable processor with v Pro support is required.
