| NVIDIA’s Firewall Technology Approved by Security Firms NVIDIA Corporation announced that the firewall technology that is incorporated into the company’s latest core-logic components has been certified by a security expert firm ICSA Labs. NVIDIA’s Firewall is a set of logic and software that is available on the company’s latest chipset, such as nForce3 250Gb, as well as the firm’s forthcoming I/O controllers. The Firewall is re-configurable and contains anti-hacking features to prevent spoofing and other hacker attacks. To earn ICSA Labs’ coveted certification, NVIDIA submitted nForce-based mainboards incorporating NVIDIA Personal Firewall to ICSA Labs who tested the operability, functionality, and vulnerability of the NVIDIA personal firewall solution. The extensive testing program, entirety created and controlled by the Lab Services Program within ICSA Labs, was designed to evaluate security and administrative functionality, and rate the overall effectiveness of NVIDIA Firewall in a litany of different scenarios, including Denial of Service (DoS), Trojan attacks, and application hijacking. The criteria established are based on specific requirements generated through market segment research, security product classification and available features of the security device to be evaluated. ICSA Labs tested NVIDIA Firewall in a number of key areas, including: *Platform Security – Tests were conducted to verify that NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller-based personal firewall provided a reasonable level of protection from commonly available attacks and exploits. *Vulnerability and Administrative Access Testing – Testing methodology ensured the protection of sensitive configuration data from being enumerated through remote administrative channels. *Logging Capabilities – ICSA Labs tested NVIDIA Firewall to ensure it provides users the ability to properly audit security-related system and network events. In addition, ICSA Labs mandates that captured log data, including precision of date and time, provides administrators enough information to monitor events that may impact the security or integrity of the NVIDIA personal firewall solution, and the PC platform. NVIDIA Firewall is a part of the company’s ForceWare drivers that are supplied with nForce3-based mainboards for AMD64 processors http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/chipset...507011059.html
