| Noctua announces free upgrade-kits for AM4 socket Coming in two versions Noctua has announced that it will be offering free upgrade-kits for its CPU coolers with the new SecuFirm2 mounting system that will be available in two versions. Compatible with most Noctua CPU coolers since 2005, the new SecuFirm2 mounting system will be available free of charge via Noctua's website for those that upload a proof of purchase of an eligible Noctua retail CPU cooler. As noted, Noctua will have two different SecuFirm2 mounting upgrade kits for the new AMD AM4 socket, the NM-AM4 and the NM-AM4-UxS. The NM-AM4 kit will support most retail CPU cooler manufactured since 2005, including the NH-C12P, NH-C12P SE14, NH-C14, NH-C14S, NH-D14, NH-D14 SE2011, NH-D15, NH-D15S, NH-D9L, NH-L12, NH-L9x65, NH-U12, NH-U12F, NH-U12P, NH-U12P, SE1366, NH-U12P SE2, NH-U9, NH-U9B, NH-U9B SE2 and the NH-U9F, while the NM-AM4-UxS will support NH-U14S, NH-U12S and the NH-U9S. It is worth noting that the NH-L9i/NH-L9a low-profile series CPU coolers are not supported with current kits but an upgrade kit could be coming at a later date. Noctua's CEO, Roland Mossig, noted that the company was the first heatsink manufacturer to offer free mounting kit upgrades back in 2006 when AMD introduced the AM2 socket, as well as several Intel socket updates.
