Icon17 New version OCCT adds GPU Stability Test

The latest beta release of OCCT 2.1.0 beta 04 has GPU load testing added. Their CPU load tester is already quite fleshed out, automatically logging temperatures and voltage of your CPU and motherboard; their GPU load test is still in beta testing with no fancy menu or options, just an animated 3D model with a timer running.

We compared this new GPU load tester on a Geforce 9800 GTX to the current HD Radeon 4850 killer, Furmark 1.4. How hot does it get?

Yes there's a .TGA background file loaded, we customized it
We ran the stress test software on our 2nd monitor of the system and it completely maxed out the fan speed on the Geforce 9800 GTX, to say it was loud is an understatement. You can also see that the GPU load software occupies both CPU cores to 100%.

OCCT Max temp load: 80°C no means to measure fan speed on the GTX, but close to maximum would not be far from the truth.

Next we fired up Furmark 1.4 stability test and dragged the test window onto the second screen and let it running until the temps remained stable

Furmark Max temp load: 71°C ...

Something is off here, let's drag that same window onto the main display and see if anything changes:

Furmark Max temp load: 74~75°C

It seems that the OCCT GPU test is more brutal and loads the GPU much quicker to a higher maximum.

You can download OCCT 2.1.0 beta 04 here
Furmark 1.4 is available here

Anybody with an ATI card or other NVIDIA care to share their experience?

Q6600 @ 3.6GHz
GTX 260 Superclocked (648/1404) under water cooling.

Five minute runs @ fullscreen, Core temp measured from Rivatuner.

ATI Tool 62c
14% CPU

FurMark 75c
25% CPU (One full core only)

OCCT GPU 75c
25% CPU (One Full core only)

All programs only used one core, FurMark did spike once to 76c but didn't happen twice. FPS in both FurMark and OCCT GPU were ironically about 40FPS.

I checked again... OCCT only shows 24-27% usage max. Maybe ya had something else running in the background? Using Vista 64

Using XP here; currently 1% CPU usage, fire up OCCT GPU load test: 100%
