Both are good overclockers

While we have already seen some details, the fresh leak regarding AMD's upcoming Ryzen 3 2300X and Ryzen 5 2500X SKUs have shown up online, revealing a lot more details as well as an impressive overclocking potential.

AMD already released some of the SKUs in its Ryzen 2000-series lineup but budget-oriented buyers are still waiting for two key SKUs, the Ryzen 3 2300X and the Ryzen 5 2500X, and it appears these will be quite interesting chips, offering great value for money as well as come with a rather impressive overclocking potential, at least according to a fresh leak from XFastest.com site.

XFastest.com managed to get their hands on each of these CPUs confirming mostly all the specifications as well as putting them both under air and LN2 cooling for some overclocking action.

The Ryzen 3 2300X is a quad-core chip without AMD simultaneous multithreading (SMT), so it is stuck with only four threads. It works at base 3.5GHz clock with Boost of up to 4.0GHZ and comes with 10MB of total cache (2MB L2 + 8MB L3). The Ryzen 5 2500X is a bit more interesting as although this is also a quad-core 65W TDP SKU, it comes with enabled SMT for eight threads and works at slightly higher 3.6GHz base clock with the same 4.0GHz Boost. It also comes with 10MB of cache (2MB L2 + 8MB L3).

Since these are AMD’s 2nd generation chips based on 12nm manufacturing process and AMD’s improved Zen+ architecture, they both should support XFR2 and Precision Boost 2 technologies.

XFastest also had a chance to overclock these two SKUs hitting a maximum clock of 4.3GHz under air. This is a good 300MHz overclock which should significantly improve performance and it is quite an important deal in that part of the market, where the value is important and buyers are squeezing out the last possible drop of performance.

Under LN2, these two SKUs are even more impressive, hitting a bootable clock of 5.65GHz, so extreme overclockers will have a blast with these two SKUs.

AMD did not give out a specific date for the launch of these two SKUs but they should start appearing in retail/e-tail sometimes in the next few months, alongside the new B450-chipset motherboards which have already started to list in some shops.
