| Microsoft's Surface Pro out in February Hardware wannabe Microsoft has told the world a bit more about its Surface tablet with Windows 8 Pro. While Microsoft has not done too badly out of the release of its Surface tablet for ARM chips, most of the world was waiting to see what it did with something more serious. Vole has released some Surface pro tech specs, pricing, and availability alongside a new Surface with Windows RT configuration, as well as a few accessories. The Surface Windows 8 Pro will be available for purchase on 9 February in the US and Canada. Since the Surface Pro runs Windows 8 Pro, it will play nice with corporate infrastructure. It should also be able to run older apps from the days of Windows XP to 7. The Surface Pro will also support other browsers. Surface Pro is slightly thicker than the Surface with Windows RT, and will weigh about two pounds. It comes with a metal "VaporMg" construction, kickstand, and is compatible will all the usual Surface accessories including all Type and Touch covers. Under the bonnet is an Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB of memory, 802.11 a/b/g/n dual band Wi-Fi, a stylus, dual 720p HD webcams, a full-sized USB 3.0 port, microSDXC slot, and mini DisplayPort. It looks like it will hit the shops for $899 for the 64GB version and will go for about $1000 for the 128GB model. Which is not pocket change. In addition to the Surface Pro models, Microsoft also announced a 64GB version of the Surface with Windows RT. It does not come with a Touch Cover and will cost $599. http://news.techeye.net/mobile/micro...ut-in-february |
