Major vendors to blame for power problems in SLI/Crossfire

It turns out that we were barking up the wrong tree. For example, sources close to Asus told us that some of reviewers had problems with single rail PSU and had to change to dual rail to make the RD580 boards work. We had it the other way around with RD480 boards.

The essence of the problem actually lies within the big four, Intel, AMD, Nvidia and ATI. They are all guilty for going too far, too fast with power specifications, in order to reach the performance crown, of course.

25 amp for CPU = 25 x 12volt = 300 watts
30 amp for 2x vcard = 30 x 12 = 360 watts

Without HDD, fans, pumps, lights, that is 660. Using 80% power factor = 660/0.8 = 825 watts.

Any failure in the power protection circuit for whatever reason may result to fire work show. It's getting harder to make a living in manufacturing PSUs. Perhaps, the consumers are demanding too much too fast. The big four are making what the consumers look for.

How many people actually HAVE SLI/Crossfire?

I guess it is not the matter of quantity; it is the matter of "Certified SLI" claim.
