| Leaker offers details on Intel's Emerald Rapids server processors. 64 cores A leak has emerged on the world wide wibble providing some details on Intel’s upcoming Emerald Rapids server processors. YuuKi_AnS [the first of his name] has published materials sent recently to OEMs and show Emerald Rapids SKUs will feature up to 64 cores, level with AMD’s current-generation EPYC chips. Emerald Rapids will reportedly deliver data transfer speeds of up to 20 GT/s, improved memory speed and up to 80 PCIe 5.0 lanes. Intel is still trying to get its next-generation Xeon Sapphire Rapids chips to mass market which have been delayed more times than a train from London to Brighton and yet never seem to even have a replacement bus service ordered. Sapphire Rapids was supposed to be here in 2021, then the new Xeon chips were first pushed back to early 2022, then to the middle and end of the year. Chipzilla delivered the chips in the hands of its special friends in the first quarter but its acquaintances will have to wait until the end of the first quarter of 2023 to see it for real. Emerald Rapids is still scheduled to release in late 2023, cutting short the life-span of its troubled predecessor. https://fudzilla.com/news/pc-hardwar...ver-processors |
