| Intel officially launches Core i7-8086K limited edition CPU 40th anniversary with 5.0GHz Turbo Following the recent leaks and in order to celebrate the 40th anniversary since the release of the original 8086 processor, Intel has now - as expected - introduced the Core i7-8086K, an unlocked 6-core CPU with a base clock of 4.0GHz and Turbo clock hitting 5.0GHz. Now on Intel ARK, the Core i7-8086K is pretty much identical to the Core i7-8700K, featuring 6-cores, 12-threads, 12MB of L3 cache and the same TDP. The difference in performance is likely to be quite noticeable as the Core i7-8086K works at 4.0GHz base and 5.0GHz Turbo clock, a good 300MHz over the Core i7-8700K. According to Intel, the Core i7-8086K will work on all 300-series motherboards and will be fully unlocked for overclocking. It is also possible that it will be quite an overclocker. Intel will also be giving away 8,086 of these processors at a dedicated www.intel.com/8086sweepstakes website - so you might want to try your luck. According to Intel, the Core i7-8086K is a limited edition CPU, available for purchase beginning on June 8, 2018, which marks the actual 40th anniversary. Unfortunately, Intel did not talk about the price but earlier leaks suggest it could be priced at under £400, or about £70 over the standard Core i7-8700K. https://fudzilla.com/news/pc-hardwar...ed-edition-cpu |
