| Intel H57 motherboard showcased at Computex The P55 chipset may have flooded Computex thanks to the multitude of manufacturers showcasing motherboards based on it but it isn't the only LGA1156-supporting silicon that reached the Taipei show. Over at Shuttle's booth people can see an early version of a board equipped with the H57 chipset, which is not expected to arrive before Q1. Pictured below, the compact H57 motherboard has support for Intel LGA1156 processors, comes with one Flash and four DDR3 memory slots, a PCI-Express x16 slot, and three SATA 3.0 Gbps ports. The board also comes with support for Braidwood technology, which an improvement of Turbo Memory, Gigabit Ethernet, and 7.1 channel audio. http://www.tcmagazine.com/comments.php?id=26912&catid=2

| By looking at the lines it seems like they had no choice but turning the socket. in my humble opinion they could have saved the trouble by only offering 2 memory slots. Four memory slots is just too much for shuttle sized pcs. Nobody is going to put top of the notch hardware in a sff pc because they can't handle the heat and they don't need it (sff pcs are bought for entertainment or design reasons). |
