| Intel chipset shortage touted THERE IS a shortage of Intel chipsets after demand for PCs suddenly started to pick up, it's being claimed. It seems that bargain hunters, who were waiting for Intel and AMD to slash their prices before buying, are now showing up at the shops with cash in hand.

| retail, yes. But they have problems convincing the rest of the world that Core 2 is faster than the Pentium, as they have been using Megahertz as an indication for performance for so long now, that the public doesn't immediately believe that a lower clocked CPU can be faster. They are looking for benchmarks to help convince the masses. More here: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060822-7560.html

| AMD did all that work already and the word spreads faster from the enthusiasts to the normal people than it did 3 years ago |

| the only way you can convince them is by configuring two identical systems, plugging a Pentium D into one, and a Core 2 into the other and running some CPU intensive benchmark tests.
