| Government claims we’re all going superfast broadband The UK government claimed that £1.7 billion it has invested in superfast broadband is beginning to show results. Statistics it released said that at the end of March this year, an extra 2,411,395 properties can now use superfast broadband. And it claims that the project is now reaching 40,000 homes and businesses each week and it will soon hit the three million mark. The newly fledged culture secretary, John Whittingdale, said that his government’s rollout of superfast broadband will mean the UK “is properly equipped to meet the challenges of the digital age”. Now 80 percent of homes and business can access superfast broadband, according to official government statistics. The target is to get 95 percent of the UK able to access it by the end of 2017. The government has started pilot projects to see how it can use alternative technologies to reach rural areas in the UK. http://www.techeye.net/news/governme...fast-broadband |
