| Google's Larry Page loses his voice Google boss Larry Page has suddenly lost his voice. This does not appear to be the sort of laryngitis that can be cured with a lemon drink and a bottle of Talisker, but is something a little more serious. According to Reuters, Page sat out his company's annual shareholders' meeting yesterday due to an unspecified condition affecting his voice. Apparently he will be sidelined from speaking for several weeks. He may even have to sit on Schmidt's knee while the latter drinks a glass of water and speaks for him. Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt told shareholders at the company's Mountain View headquarters that Page, continues to run the company but he would also not speak at the Google developer conference next week and at the company's second-quarter earnings results next month. He will fill in for him. Some people say that they can't tell the difference because the two tend to sing from the same hymn sheet and Schmidt does not appear to move his lips much other than when he has to say "bottle of beer". Page had been "asked to rest," but would not provide more details on his condition. He, along with co-founder Sergey Brin and Schmidt, control a majority of the Internet company through special shares that give them more voting power. http://news.techeye.net/business/goo...oses-his-voice |
