| Google goes for more energy Google has signed five deals to buy output from power stations in Sweden, Chile and the USA. The contracts account for 781 megawatts bringing its total consumption of renewable energy to two gigawatts in a combination of both solar and wind energy. The contracts its signed last between 10 and 20 years, and, according to Bloomberg, Google is the biggest corporate buyer of renewable energy worldwide. Google’s head of infrastructure, Michael Terrell, told Bloomberg that his compamy wanted to put the message that corporate America is committed to moving to a clean energy economy. Google made a commitment to triple its use of renewable energy by 2025 and so it looks as if it’s well on its way to reach that target before then. http://www.techeye.net/news/google-goes-for-more-energy |
