The Gigabyte X79 UD3 is the most cost efficient of the X79 lineup offered from Gigabyte. Scaling upwards through their UD5 and UD7 brands which are more geared at overclock enthusiasts all the way up to their G1 Assassin 2 version. This week the X79 UD3 goes on the bench to not only measure performance but to get a better understanding of the platform altogether.

The X79 UD3 is a socket 2011 motherboard based on the X79 chipset. The boards main features are quad channel memory, SATA 6 Gbps, Super Speed USB 3.0 and 32x PCI Express 3.0 capability. These are things you will find on all X79 boards from the least to the most expensive versions.
