| Futuremark 2006 Benchmarks: AMD vs Intel, ATI vs Nvidia Since the day we published the first gaming benchmarks with an Opteron and the Asus SK8N back in August of 2003 we knew AMD had taking the gaming performance crown back with a vengeance. It is pretty clear they have held that lead, but here we see 3DMark 2006 say the 840 D Intel platform with the nForce 4 beats out the FX60 also on nForce 4 with either a Radeon or GeForce. We have to wonder what is going on under the hood of this new version because what we have reflected here in the final score is not real world performance for gaming as you can see in our FX60 review. Commenting on the X1800XL versus the 7800GT we see Nvidia has comfortable lead bigger then the P4 over the Athlon 64.

| Real world gaming out of the window? AMD is still faster in games in Intel, but not in 3DMark2006?

| it seems 3DMark06 really likes multiple processors Dual Core P4 with HT = 4 CPU in task manager 2x Dual Core Opteron score higher than 1 highly clocked Athlon FX (not DC). but the CPU test is really funky Quote:

| well, I can't complain that they try to push multicore processors only the guys who make the physics cards probably aren't amused over this development |
