Default Farming Similator Gets an Esports League

Farming simulation may not be a genre for everyone, but apparently, it's a fairly popular one. Farming Simulator 19 peaked at nearly 60,000 concurrent players late last year, and the previous games seems to have sold surprisingly well, according to their SteamSpy data. While that's surprising enough, I definitely didn't see the continuation of an official Farming Simulator esports league coming. Building on their more modest efforts last year, the publishers say they'll host 10 tournaments across Europe. At the end of this season, the best teams will compete for a 100,000 Euro ($114,000) prize, while an additional 150,000 Euros (171,000 USD) will be awarded over the course of the tournament. Thanks to Motherboard for the tip. GIANTS Software posted a trailer for the 2018 championship, which you can see below: GIANTS Software teamed up with some of the industries finest for the upcoming league, partnering with Logitech G, Intel, noblechairs as well as long term partner Nitrado to provide the best experience possible to both, players and fans of the Farming Simulator League. The game itself is changing as well. Not only will the new league be held in the brand new Farming Simulator 19, but it will also move from bale stacking to a competitive 3 vs 3 mode where teams challenge each other to determine who is the best on the field. The game will, of course, stand true to its roots in farming and combine real field work like harvesting with fun and challenging game elements. GIANTS Software will reveal more about the new game mode in the near future.
