| Facebook still worried about Zuckerberg's security Is someone trying to kill him? While Facebook is trying to cut costs everywhere, it is boosting Mark Zuckerberg's considerable personal security budget by $4 million. In an SEC filing published yesterday, Meta said Zuck's personal security budget would be increased to a pre-tax allowance of $14 million after having been previously set at $10 million in 2018. Apparently, the outfit is worried about "safety arising directly as a result of his position as Meta's founder, Chairman, and CEO. Meta requires security measures for the company's benefit because of the importance of Zuckerberg to Meta." In 2016, it came out that Facebook spent $16 million on Zuck's security detail in the five years prior, which the company defended at the time as "appropriate and necessary" despite the exorbitant costs Zuckerberg needed to protect himself compared to other Silicon Valley leaders. In 2017, Zuckerberg's $4.26 million spent in the prior year on private security was nearly four times that of the next most paranoid well-protected tech leader Jeff Bezos, who only used $1.6 million on his security. It is unclear why Meta/Facebook thinks Zuckerburg is likely to be in danger -- other than being voted as having a face mostly likely to be punched by the clientle of the Star and Garter pub. Facebook has been making a few lay offs lately, but that is only recently. Besides a lot of people would be keen to leave Facebook and seek their fortunes in a leaner and more agile company. https://fudzilla.com/news/56354-face...erg-s-security |
