 |  Douglas Trumbull, VFX whiz for ‘Blade Runner’, ‘2001’ and others, dies at 79 Douglas Trumbull, the visual effects mastermind behind Blade Runner, Close Encounter of the Third Kind, 2001: A Space Odyssey and numerous others, died on Monday at age 79.
