| Cyborgs coming real soon now “It's intelligence, but not as we know it, Captain” Boffins claim they've come up a material that could merge human brains with electronics. Researchers at the University of Delaware said that they hatched the idea “because we were trying to rigid organic microelectrode with the brain”. Unfortunately, brains are soft squishy alive things, so attempt to interconnect brains to machines using gold or silicon causes scarring, which prevents electric signals. Dr David Martin, from the university, said that the team had discovered that organic electronic materials, such as conjugated polymers would be suitable for the project. “We found a chemically stable example that was sold commercially as an antistatic coating for electronic displays”, he said. The polymer appears to have the properties that allow hardware to connect to human tissue without causing scarring. The same polymer can apparently be used to build house bricks into energy storage devices. Tesla's Elon Musk, according to the Independent, will release details of so-called “brain chips” this month, in its Neuralink project. https://fudzilla.com/news/ai/51364-c...-real-soon-now |
