| Cray to use Opterons for world's fastest computers CRAY HAS announced that it has won the contract to build what it is claiming will be one the world's fastest computers. The computer will be installed in the US Department of Energy's (DOE) National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC). The next-generation supercomputer at the DOE's, which is codenamed 'Hood' will cost the DoE more than $52 million.
