| China shakes smartphone vendors’ money trees People in China are just not buying into the idea of new smartphones because the market is saturated. According to a report from IDC today, sales of smartphones in China fell by four percent in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same quarter of last year. 98.8 million units shipped in China but it is the first time in six years that the market showed a decline. Apple won the race to be top smartphone vendor in China in Q1. Xiaomi was second, and Huawei was third. But sales of Samsung and Lenovo fell, as shown by the IDC chart below. Samsung showed a particularly precipitate decline. IDC predicts that China will show flat growth in 2015 while vendors like Huawei, Lenovo and Xiaomi are trying to get market share in the middle to high end segment of the market. http://www.techeye.net/business/chin...rs-money-trees |
