| Changing Time & Date settings to Jan 1, 1970 will permanently brick 64-bit iOS device - Settings - General - Date & Time - "Set Automatically" off - Change date to Jan 1, 1970 (Scroll up to get to year 2000, then go back, into date settings again, repeat until it reaches 1970) - Reboot. The iOS device will fail to boot, stuck at display of Apple logo. DON'T DO THIS!!!!!!!!! A DFU restore or Recovery mode restore will NOT put the device back into working order. A physical repair (either a Genius Bar appointment or physically disconnecting battery and connecting again) is required for the device to function again. Quote:

| if you leave the device's running and let the battery go completely flat, it will reset itself and you get to recover your phone... good to know!
