| CeBit America 2005 canceled Trade show CeBit America 2005 has been canceled, despite growing enthusiasm and a shrinking field of competing shows. Hannover Fairs USA announced on Monday that it will remove the show from its schedule of events, because it is unable to make enough revenue to justify a third year. CeBit America 2005, whose Web site is still live, was to take place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City from June 28 to June 30, 2005. "Though regrettable, this is the correct business decision," Joachim Schafer, president of Hannover Fairs USA, said in a statement. "It is really a reflection of a changing high-tech industry as well as the overall U.S. economy." http://news.com.com/CeBit+America+20...l?tag=nefd.top

| CeBit America canceled after Comdex 2004 - I began my trade show standing/walking excercise in 1988 as an exhibitor. Three years later, I canned the budget going to all shows. There was no incentive in spending the money and not getting 1 penny of return; not even adversting expense. I see this kind of show will slow down mainly because of the boom in hardware review sites. 10 years ago you could hardly find any; 5 years ago "things" began to change. 2 to 3 years old review sites easily represent 90% of the total number. What am I talking about? New products can be shown in days to thousands of people via the internet product review sites is the reason "trade show" attendance is down. The cost to show the product via review sites is next to nothing versus going to the show. The member fee alone could be in the thousands of dollar per year, let alone travelling, give away, show booth etc. You bet; you and I have changed the way business is run.
