A box shot has pretty much confirmed that AMD is likely to soon launch the 12nm Polaris-based Radeon RX 590, which could bring around 10 to 15 percent performance boost compared to the RX 580, at least depending on the actual GPU clock AMD AIB partners hit on their cards.

As we already wrote back in October, AMD has been gearing to launch a Polaris-refresh graphics card which will be based on a 12nm Polaris GPU, usually referred to as Polaris 30, and should offer an improvement of around 10 to 15 percent, at least according to our sources. It also appears that those sources were pretty much spot on with the November launch date, although some Chinese sites were pointing at end of October.

The box shot published by Andreas Schilling from HardwareLuxx, as well as earlier pictures of Powercolor's Radeon RX 590, pretty much confirmed the name as well as the fact that this is a 12nm GPU. Other noted features on the box include support for Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR, Chill, ReLive, and more.

Both Radeon RX 580 and RX 570 have seen a significant price drop lately, with RX 580 available for as low as $179.99 (after $20 rebate) and even including a free game pack bundle. The Radeon RX 570 sells for around $139.99 (with rebate) for the 4GB and $159.99 for 8GB version, both coming with the same free game pack bundle.

The upcoming Radeon RX 590 will put a bit more pressure on Nvidia in the mid-range graphics card market, and probably even beating the GTX 1060.
