| ATI chairman optimistic about new Pentium 4 platform Some PC OEMs have started producing new products using the new Intel Pentium 4 platform, although most motherboard makers are still skeptical about market acceptance of the new platform, said Ho Kwok-yuen, chairman of ATI Technologies. Ho said that he expects demand for products based on the new platform to grow significantly after Intel unveils the platform in late June. The new Pentium 4 platform features 90-nm processors and PCI Express supporting 915/925 chipsets. With a number of brand notebook vendors having an optimistic view of the new platform, some research organizations have raised their PCI Express-based PC shipment predictions to 35% of total PC shipments made at year-end, up from a previous forecast of 25%, according to sources at local notebook makers. Jason LS Chen, country manager for Intel Taiwan, declined to comment on the company’s sales target for the new platform, but stated that actual demand will start emerging after the products are officially launched. http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Ar...ages=A7&seq=51
