Retro Games reveals tiny version of first gaming computer

Retro Games is bringing back the Atari 400, the first home computer that rocked as a game system, in a mini version that can play the entire 8-bit Atari range.

They made a video titled "The iconic computer now reimagined," saying that in 1979 Atari brought the computer age home. The video shows the new device, which is half the size of the original Atari 400.

For those who came in fairly recently the Atari 400 and 800 were launched in 1979 as Atari's first stab at a home computer that doubled as a brilliant game system.

It had a faster version of the great 8-bit MOS 6502 CPU found in the Commodore PET, and Atari's ANTIC, GTIA, and POKEY chips for graphics and sound, making the Atari 400 and 800 the first real gaming PCs.

If the 400Mini is as good as the other Retro Games systems, it will be another win for Atari Interactive's comeback after its amazing Atari50 collection, new Atari 2600+ console, and buying of important things like Digital Eclipse, MobyGames, and AtariAge.
