 |  Apple rumored to axe iconic iPod Apple owes much of its success to the original iPod, which made MP3 players mainstream and spawned an entire family of devices that continues to dominate the market. The iPod lineup currently spans four models, including the Shuffle, Nano, Classic, and Touch. According to TUAW, however, two of those models could be on the way out. Rumor has it that the iPod Shuffle and Classic will be discontinued before the end of the year. The screenless Shuffle has always been a bit of an oddity, so I won't be sorry to see it go.
