| Apple makes $200+ on each iPad According to BroadPoint AmTech analyst Brian Marshall, Apple will make upwards of $200 on each iPad sold to cult members. The bill of materials for the cheapest $499 SKU with 16GB of memory and WiFi connectivity is $270.50. Even when service costs are added, the cost ends up at $290.50. It gets worse with pricier models. The $629 SKU with 16GB and 3G costs $306.50 to build. The 32GB model with 3G costs $322 to make, but it will sell for $729. This is a 55.1 percent margin, something you rarely see in drug trafficking, let alone the tech industry. http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/17485/38/

| Holy **** Chances are these prices won't stand long because most people seem to realize that they are way to expensive for what they have to offer. |

| I hafta disagree, There are to many Apple fanboys out there that will buy the latest and greatest from Apple on a whim - regardless of how absurd the prices are. Crazy but true K. |

| Half the battery lifespan, about the same specs but with keyboard. And seems to be more expensive. I'm not impressed.

and you get a lot more for your money. Netbooks with 8-10hrs autonomy are available, the only thing that is missing is an extra hinge and a capacitive multitouch screen so it won't take long before companies start shipping those. If companies start selling these for $500 then Apple might drop their iPad prices (since they have a large enough margin to do so). As usual, they did start a new 'trend' and hopefully this will result in a lot new tablet pc's for a small price | ||

| Plenty of better options, some low-voltage models at $500 and many cheaper netbooks to choose from. Try one with better battery life for $200 less. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834152142 |
