The fruity cargo cult Apple is so strapped for chips that it is thinking of having them made in the US.

For those who came in late, Apple made its fortune by having most of its gear assembled in the Far East, enabling it to increase its inflated margins even further.

But with China still on lockdown implementing its Zero Covid policy, Apple is finding its supply chain a bit rusty, if not broken in places.

Now the Tame Apple Press suggests that its favourite company has “already made a decision to be buying out of a plant in Arizona” that’s due to begin production in 2024, meaning that the company could start using those chips in around two years. Apple hopes to “source from Europe as those plans become more apparent.

Jobs’ mob’s chip-making chum Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has an advanced facility being constructed in Arizona, which will likely start producing chips in 2024, which pretty much meets the rumours. Intel plans to build an Arizona factory set to open in 2024 and Chipzilla planned on producing chips for other companies.
