Default Apple liberates last of the Intel gear in its M2 MacBook Air

Free at last, thank god I am free at last

Intel gear which controls the USB and Thunderbolt ports has been removed from the M2 MacBook Air.

Jobs' Mob has announced that the last Intel-made component will be replaced with a custom-made controller.

Repair website iFixit shared a teardown of the new "MacBook Air," revealing a look inside the completely redesigned machine. One subtle detail that went largely unnoticed was that unlike previous Macs, the latest "MacBook Air" introduces custom-made controllers for the USB and Thunderbolt ports.

iFixit said it located a "seemingly Apple-made Thunderbolt 3 driver, instead of the Intel chips. The new component was shared on Twitter earlier today, where it received more attention.

The Tame Apple Press is unclear if the controllers were made by one of Apple's partners, but are breathlessly assuming that Jobs Mob created the controller itself.
