| Android 9 Pie Has Been Released and Packs a Ton of New Features Android 9 Pie is out and it contains a lot of new features. First of all Essential Phone users have day one access to Android 9 Pie as Essential Products was one of seven device maker partners that enrolled their flagship devices into the beta for the software update. The update features new gestures and UI, enhanced audio, background restrictions on app battery usage, the ability to view HDR VP9 Video, new HEIF image compression and more. The new feature that caught my eye was the many ways that your interactions with your phone will involve machine learning (ML) in the future. The neural AI will learn what you use the most, and which apps correspond to certain actions, so it can have those highlighted and at the ready. Multi-camera streaming sounds fun! Today we announced that 6 of our top partners are joining us to release Android P Beta on their devices -- Sony Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21UD and X21, and Essential PH-1. We're inviting early adopters and developers around the world to try Android P Beta on any of these devices -- as well as on Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel, and Pixel XL. You can see the full list of supported partner and Pixel devices at android.com/beta. http://www.hardocp.com/news/2018/08/...ew_feat ures/ |
